Our Approach
Our Approach
Our Approach
We believe that achieving sustainable change in culture, policy, and practice of an organization that is driven by cohesive leadership teams. As such, we empower educational organizations by building their capacity for change through access to funds, professional development, and a network of support. Our logic model provides the general plan the SIP project follows in order to achieve desired outcomes, while the SIP Blueprint is intended as a change-management guide for our grantees to follow as they move on the path of change towards innovation.

Elements of INNOVATION
Elements of INNOVATION
Elements of INNOVATION

SIP’s approach to innovation is derived from Tony Booth and Mel Ainscow’s paper in 2002 titled ‘Developing learning and participation in schools’ as well as other seminal works on managing sustainable change in educational organizations including Michael Fullan’s ‘Coherence: The right drivers in action for schools‘.
At SIP, we believe that a sustainable model can be achieved when change is infused in the trifecta of policy, practice and culture of an educational organization by a cohesive leadership team.
- Policy: Attention to policy is essential as it helps remove structural and procedural barriers to enable.
- Practice: Practices that are responsive to student diversity, encourage student-directed learning, are evidence-based, and developed via ongoing collaboration between staff, students and community.
- Culture: This provides the foundational values and principles that promote a collaborating, accepting and stimulating community which guides decisions about policies and practices.
- Cohesive Leadership Team: Leadership is the catalyst for driving change and is responsible for setting a clear vision, communicating clarity and inspiring people to action.

There is a method to our madness!
There is a method to our madness!
There is a method to our madness!
The SIP Logic Model and Blueprint are derived from best practices as defined in research and literature in the fields of education and change management. The goal is to provide our grantees with a solid framework upon which to base their work in creating equitable learning environments within their organizations. The Logic Model defines our approach to the project.
In a nutshell, we believe that when grantees are provided key resources and support, we empower them to achieve outcomes that reflect increased access and participation. Meanwhile, the Blueprint provides the systematic approach we advocate our grantees utilize as they move towards building learning environments that support all students. Based on seminal works in change management, we believe that by adopting this blueprint, our grantees will build capacities to deal with all change using best practice methods.
SIP Logic Model
SIP Logic Model
SIP Logic Model
At SIP, we believe in a structured and systematic approach to obtaining desired results. The SIP logic model is grounded in this belief and focuses on building the capacities of each of our grantees to help progress them towards sustainable and scalable models.
The SIP Logic Model is based on the following simple premise. ‘If we support our grantees with inputs (resources) as well as facilitate their access to vital activities which are designed to develop/build specific capacities/outputs in them, then they will be empowered to achieve desired short- and long-term outcomes that are indicative of innovative change.’
The outcomes that we strive for our grantees to achieve represent research-based best practices observed in ideal innovative organizations. The SIP Logic Model also perfectly aligns with our approach (culture, policy, practice, cohesive leadership) to building equitable learning environments.
SIP Blueprint
SIP Blueprint
SIP Blueprint
As educational organizations move towards creating equitable and accessible learning environments, they are undertaking a massive system change. However, unlike businesses going through such change, schools/districts often lack the benefit of business professionals armed with change management tools or strategies. The SIP Blueprint was born to address this need.
The Blueprint is distilled from knowledge in seminal change management literature in the fields of both education and business. SIP encourages its grantees to follow the stages of the Blueprint in order to increase the likelihood of achieving successful and sustainable models that support diverse and equitable learning environments.. Furthermore, SIP believes that following the systematic and foundational approach of the Blueprint also improves the capacity of schools/districts to employ a similar approach to other initiatives.
